Frequently asked questions
1. How many people will be in my class?
Most classes will be somewhere between twelve and twenty-five students depending on the program popularity and time of year.
2. How many hours a day do I spend in class?
Instructor led class time is four hours per day with breaks as designated by your instructor. You will have an hour of additional class time made available to you so you can study quietly or take advantage of the equipment here.
This extra time is called 'lab time' and it is unsupervised. It should also be noted that our equipment is available to you at all times during College hours provided another class is not using it for class or lab time.
3. Can I find my own practicum?
Yes, you are encouraged to find your own practicum and forward the contact information to the practicum coordinator so that the potential host can be verified and set up through our procedure.
No practicum is valid unless authorized by our staff. Feel free to approach your practicum coordinator at any time to discuss the possibilities.
4. What is a practicum?
A practicum is experiencing first hand how it would be like to work in your chosen field. At the end of your program, you will have the opportunity to finally test the immense knowledge you've picked up and apply it at a 'real' work place.
5. Can I work full time and attend the college?
As a College, we have no desire to interfere with your private life. We must say, however, that it will be extremely difficult for you to attend classes, participate fully and keep up with homework if you are working full time.
In our experience, students trying to work full time, or even part time and take on one of our intense programs at the same time have a much higher drop out rate and a much lower GPA.
6. Do I have to attend the practicum?
The practicum component is mandatory if you would like to receive a full diploma. These modules are awarded a pass or fail mark based on attendance and performance in the work place.
To be placed on a practicum, you must maintain a 2.0 grade point average in your program of study and successfully complete all previous modules.
