International Trade Program (FITT)
NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement), APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) & the new WTO (World Trade Organization) agreements are revolutionizing international trade and creating millions of new import and export trade opportunities.
Responsive to standards and demands of industry for training in this field, Vancouver Career College has partnered with FITT (Forum for International Trade Training), Canada’s national professional organization, to deliver the FITT skills program, including import and export management.
The FITTskills program focuses on the practical aspects of international business, including logistics, nation-by-nation marketing opportunities, trade finance, market entry strategies and international management techniques.
All FITTskills courses meet the international standards of international business and trade training and are accredited by the International Association of Trade Training (IATTO), an association recognized in 26 countries worldwide.
The FITT Diploma fulfills the educational requirements of the prestigious professional designation, the Certified International Trade Professional. (C.I.T.P) The C.I.T.P is the only professional designation for international trade in Canada and it identifies the designee as a qualified professional able to meet the challenges of today’s global marketplace.
Graduates of the program will be able to work in, manage, or own an import or export business, whether it’s a small business or a multi-national trading company.
Graduates will also be qualified to work in the areas of international research, international marketing, international buying, international banking, international sales, international contract management, freight forwarding and brokerage management.
This program would also be an asset for those students applying for positions as customs agents, consulate officers and government trade officers.
What makes our international trade training programs special?
To prepare students with the real world skills essential for international business success, three content areas are emphasized throughout our entire program
1) Students in this program create a real life business plan; by the end of the diploma program students can exhibit their skills to employers with a finished portfolio showcasing their talents in research, finance, international trade and business plan development.
2) Coursework that takes cross-cultural communication into special consideration so that graduates are prepared to work with ease in a global community.
3) Coursework focusing on the practical development of negotiation skills, ensuring graduates make effective arguments and are oriented towards a successful future in international business.
