Practical Nursing Program

In this program, graduates are prepared to provide nursing care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

With the development of competencies necessary for a Practical Nurse as outlined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia, the program curriculum and practicum prepares the students with the skills needed to care for selected clients in medical, surgical or rehabilitation wards of acute care hospitals.

Graduates may also gain employment in the long-term care settings, group homes, public schools, special care units (e.g., Alzheimer units) and home care. The Nursing Arts courses and the 3 Practicum courses give students ample opportunity to put theory into practice.

By the end of the preceptorship component, students will have learned to provide holistic nursing interventions to patients, with all the relevant clinical experience to meet professional practice competencies and standards.

Program Duration: 50 weeks (Including Practicum)
